AudioBuddy privacy

Local library and speech

AudioBuddy stores imported or downloaded audio, playback position, transcripts, conversations, artwork and narrator samples in the app’s local library. Speech recognition and optional voice synthesis run on the device.

Your AI provider

When you choose a cloud or network AI provider, AudioBuddy sends your question, conversation context and selected text from the recording to that provider. Podcast context can include episode show notes. The context setting can include substantial portions of what you have heard. That provider’s terms and privacy policy apply. With an on-device answer model, this question-answer processing runs locally.

Downloads and external services

Podcast search and link resolution can contact Apple’s directory. Episode feeds and audio come from their publishers. LibriVox catalog and audio downloads use Internet Archive, and the Security Now archive uses GRC/TWiT sources. Optional models are downloaded from Hugging Face. These services receive the network information needed to respond, such as your IP address and requested URL.

Keys and shared links

Provider API keys and model-download tokens are stored in Apple’s Keychain. The iPhone share extension passes shared episode links to the app through a shared Keychain group.

Deletion

Deleting an item from the library removes its locally stored files, including its transcript and conversation. Remove provider keys separately in Settings. Deleting local data does not delete information already processed by an external provider.

Support

If you email support, we receive the information you include. Please do not send API keys, access tokens or private recordings.
