A little help
AudioBuddy support
Getting started
Import a supported audio file, download a LibriVox audiobook, or add a podcast. Open Settings → Companion to choose an AI provider. Cloud services may require your own account and API key and incur their normal usage charges.
Supported audio files
M4B, M4A, MP3, AAC, MP4, WAV, AIF/AIFF, CAF and FLAC. DRM-protected or damaged files may not import.
Asking a question
Tap Ask, press ⌘K on Mac, use the configured headphone next-track control, or type. During a reply, tap to interrupt. You can ask a follow-up before returning to playback.
Using AudioBuddy offline
Select an available on-device answer model in Settings. Required models and audio must be present before offline use. Downloading books, episodes or models and using cloud providers requires a network connection.
Setting up the narrator voice
Download or import the optional Pocket TTS model in Settings → Narrator Voice. Its terms require speaker consent. Without it, AudioBuddy uses a system voice. Adjust the sample position if it contains music or the wrong speaker.
Unexpected answers or spoilers
The heard-so-far setting limits the text supplied to the model, but AI can still make mistakes. The whole-book option deliberately allows discussion of later content.
Deleting library data
Delete a book or episode from the library to remove its stored audio, transcript, conversation and narrator sample. Provider keys are managed separately in Settings.
